we had an assignment to make something out of extruded aluminium, what we made and the shape of the extrusion was up to ourselves, but the task was to deliver it to a contest in the US.
i’ve been fortunate enough that i’ve never needed crutches, but i still find the concept very fascinating. while doing research for this task i realized that making crutches more modular could give the user more flexibility—especially in the cases where the crutches are long term, and mostly used during teen years where the person grows.
looking back i could have researched more into long-term use of crutches, and what the needs are. i thought more about the modularity for this project than doing the research properly. as well as the different types of crutches.
